MLK Celebration January 2012

On January 16, 2012, for the sixth year Brothers from Phi Iota and Alpha Theta Chapters of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. worked in conjunction with the City of Phoenix, Local Police, and Park Patrol to provide crowd control. Brothers acted in the capacity of the "eyes and ears" for authorities to ensure all participants enjoyed theirselves while celebrating Black History month.

In addition to acting in the capacity of the "eyes and ears" Brothers and members of the Omega Youth Leadership Academy (OYLA) marched in the MLK parade. The parade began at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and ended at Margret T. Hance Park in Phoenix.

This was also great opportunity for Brothers to work in conjunction with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to disseminate information related to diabetes. Brothers also worked in conjunction with the NPHC to inform the community on those activities being conducted by local Fraternities and Sororities which impact the community.

This event was covered by several TV/News stations, such as: KPNX (channel 12; KTVK (channel 3); KSAZ (channel 10); and KPOH (channel 5). The following photos will provide you with a sense of those activities which took place:

On January 17, 2011, Brothers from Phi Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. worked in conjunction with the City of Phoenix acting in the capacity of the "eyes and ears" for the local park authorities and police to celebrate Black History month. In addition to acting in the capacity of the "eyes and ears" for local park authorities, Brothers from Phi Iota and members of the Omega Youth Leadership Academy marched in the MLK parade. The parade began at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and ended at Margret T. Hance Park in Phoenix. This is where Brothers interfaced with local authorities.

MLK Celebration - Town of Gilbert January 2011

On January 8, 2010, Brothers from Phi Iota celebrated MLK Day with the Town of Gilbert. This celebration took place at the Southeast Regional Library in Gilbert, Arizona. This event was held by the Human Relations, Culture and Arts Promotion Commision. The goal of the Town of Gilbert MLK Celebration is to allow the community to annually celebrate the Man and his Vision. (See the following photos)

MLK Celebration January 2010

Brothers from Phi Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. worked in conjunction with the City of Phoenix acting in the capacity of the eyes and ears for the local park authorities and police to celebrate Black History month. This celebration took place at Margret T. Hance Park in Phoenix. In addition, Phi Iota set-up a table to disseminate Chapter brochures depicting what purpose we serve within and outside the community; provide the public with brochures on healthy eating and diabeties; and provide voter's registration forms to those individuals who requested blank forms. MLK - An Evening of Sharing January 2010

On January 15, 2010, Brothers from Phi Iota celebrated MLK Day with the Town of Gilbert. This celebration took place at First United Methodist Church in Gilbert, Arizona. This event was held by the Human Relations, Culture and Arts Promotion Commision to allow the citizens of Gilbert to understand and work toward achievement of the dreams that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. so eloquently delivered on the 28th of August 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.
